When you want TVO Learn

When the student has not met the topic yet, or needs an explanation rather than practice. GradeForge does not teach lessons, and it will not substitute for course instruction.

When you want GradeForge

When the student has already studied the material and the marks still are not moving. At that point more content is not the problem — knowing which specific expectation is failing is. GradeForge takes five reviewed questions, names one likely starting skill with clearly labelled initial evidence, and then sets one five-question mission a day on that skill.

Questions about the comparison

Is GradeForge a replacement for TVO Learn?

No. TVO Learn teaches the MTH1W course with lessons and activities. GradeForge checks a handful of reviewed questions to name one skill to work on next and gives a daily five-question mission. Most students use both: learn from the course material, then practise the specific gap.

Is TVO Learn free?

Yes. TVO Learn is a free Ontario educational resource. Check its site for the current course listings and what each one covers.

Does GradeForge cover the same content as the course?

No. GradeForge covers Grade 9 Mathematics (MTH1W) only, and it does not teach lessons. It checks reviewed questions, reports one likely starting skill with worked feedback, and sets a short daily practice mission.

Which should a student start with?

If a student has not seen the topic yet, start with the lesson material. If they have studied it and do not know why marks are slipping, start with the five-question check — it takes a few minutes and needs no account.
